Abstract: The paper will focus on the People´s Republic of China´s movement in the South China Sea, primarily in its geopolitical and strategic characteristics. To that end, such actions were considered through the lens of some classical geopolitical theories, namely, the tenets of Nicholas Spykman, Alfred Mahan and Alexander de Seversky. However, this subject will also be addressed having in mind Chinese historical and geopolitical factors, primarily the historical context of the navy, the Chinese strategic thinking, and Beijing´s strategic culture. The conclusion of this investigation point to the application, although discrete, of some traditional geopolitical principles, on what concerns Beijing´s actions in the South China Sea. It is also highlighted that such actions do not happen in a vacuum, but that they have historical, current, and political roots.

The party has, for the first time, secured lead in 29 of the 87 Assembly segments covering the six Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir. Not just that, it is optimistic about further improving its tally in the Assembly elections, and form the government in the state."
