O investigador apresentou um artigo intitulado Tradition and Modernity – Concepts and Chinese Reality, de acordo com o qual: 

"Before approaching Chinese Culture and Modern China we should try to understand the concept of Tradition and the Concept of Modernity. Facts that were "modern" in a certain period of time became "tradition" later on, others disappeared. What is modern today may become tradition in the future. That means nothing IS modern and nothing IS tradition as such. Modernity and Tradition are concepts not realities, are relations not entities. ".
